![]() ![]() ![]() Regular virtualization I can get anywhere. Right now, I'm watching both VMware and Parallels, hoping one of you two will announce SOMETHING that is worth using on Linux. It seems that even though virtualization technology is being advanced quite a lot recently, Linux does not seem to be taken as a serious platform for ultimate virtualization. The Unity stuff is great too, and probably will be another feature we would never see for the Linux version of VMware. I had a friend that wanted to run Windows games and I recommended trying VMware Fusion, which I wound up setting up and using. Before that, there was XGL.Īnd no, I did not try VMware fusion on my computers, I do not own a Mac. AIGLX is available, and has been standardized for some time now. Is that really too much to ask? It really is pathetic how NO one has implemented 3D support for VMs in Linux directly into the virtualization software? If it is available for Mac OS X, which is a UNIX-like OS, then it can be done for Linux. ![]() Why is it that the really awesome features are not ever implemented into VMware for Linux? I want be able to play my new 3D games on VMware so I don't have to switch back and forth between Windows and Linux. But WHY THE WORLD does VMware only do this for Mac OS X? Both Mac OS X and Linux have good OpenGL support in most FOSS drivers and the proprietary nVidia and ATI cards take care of OpenGL. I think I'd personally upgrade one WS Pro license as you have more PCs than you do Macs.OK, VMware Fusion is a great product. The upgrade is the same price and the upgraded license can be used on either a PC or a Mac in both cases. The upgrade license pricing for both Fusion Pro and Workstation Pro is $99 USD.Īs to which to upgrade, that's your choice. You'll have to check with VMware to find out what that upgrade will cost in Cyprus. That key you get from the license upgrade can be used on each of your 3 machines. It gives you one key corresponding to the license you upgraded. But note: The upgrade will not give you 3 license keys. Since you are using the product for non-commercial purposes, the upgrade of one Workstation Pro 15 license to Workstation Pro 17 will allow you to run your 2 PCs and 1 Mac. I'm therefore able to use it on 3 computers: Two Macs and one finally if upgrade from 15.x to 17.x will be for 3 devices either Windows or Mac in my case, 2 Windows: 11+10 and 1 Mac… Monterey, and because I will choose Non-commercial usage, … and pay… for this upgrade how much…? I live in Cyprus Europe.īecause, I have 15.x WS Pro, and I think 11.x Fusion Pro old/past licenses… what is the easier upgrade license in Windows WS pro or MacOS Monterey Fusion… for upgrade to the newest version noncommercial …? And get cross platform licenses x3. I don't use my upgraded Fusion Pro license for commercial purposes. In which case you can use one converted license for all 3 of your computers. If you're using a Workstation Pro license strictly for your own purposes (not for work or for profit), you're using the product for non-commercial purposes. To cover your 3 computers for commercial use, you'd need 3 licenses of Workstation Pro. That's either 1 PC running Workstation Pro or 1 Mac running Fusion Pro. If it's considered commercial use (you're using it for your job), one license can only be used on one computer. The answer depends on how you are using the license. So, if upgrade from 15.x to 17.x will be for 3 devices either Windows or Mac in my case, 2 Windows: 11+10 and 1 Mac… Monterey …correct?
